I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina and spent much of my youth scribbling stories in spiral-bound notebooks during science class. Later, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I studied creative writing and led workshops for middle and high school students.
A little about me:
I moved to Boston for grad school and fell in love with the city. When I wasn’t in class, I was working at Brattle Book Shop, shelving books and traveling all over New England. Working there gave me a window into other people’s lives: I saw how they lived, what they read, what they loved, and what they had to leave behind. Most of all, it fueled my storytelling.
These days, I’m based in Austin, Texas. My recent challenges include learning to make pottery and perfecting the (difficult) art of baking a gluten-free sourdough loaf. I’m a violinist, an aspiring runner, and a yogi. On any given day, you can find me swimming at Barton Springs or volunteering at Austin Animal Center.
