Storytelling

I enjoy editing, but my first love was creative writing. I’m always ruminating on a story, puzzling out the details.

I graduated with honors in creative writing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, attended Kenyon College’s writing workshop in the summer of 2013, and received a Dean’s Fellowship along with an MFA in fiction writing at Emerson College.

Lately, I’ve been wrapping up a short story and planning out my first novel.

    • “Calving” – forthcoming in The Kenyon Review, summer 2025

    • Happy Garden” – Redivider, fall 2023

    • “The Game” – The Vocabula Review, fall 2013

    • “Summer of Love “ – Cellar Door, spring 2013

    • “The Trinity Test” – Cellar Door, spring 2012

    • “Don't Turn Your Back On Your Daughters” in States of the Union, Mascot Books, 2017

    • Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition: First Place for “So This Is How We Go” – 2020

    • Writing, Literature, and Publishing Writing Award in Fiction, Third Place, for “Space Cadet” – Emerson College, April 2016

    • Writing, Literature, and Publishing Writing Award in Fiction, First Place, for “Midnight Mass” – Emerson College, May 2015

  • Writing Coach – In 2012 and 2013, I was an inaugural counselor and writing coach for CampWrite UNC, a free, two-week creative writing summer camp for middle and high school students. I helped craft curriculum, led workshops, and encouraged young writers to pursue their craft.

Writing Juror – From 2018 to 2022, I served as a writing juror for the Massachusetts Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, the nation's longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. I read 20-30 submissions across multiple categories (poetry, short stories, flash fiction, essays, etc.) and ranked the work according to effort and skill.
